These risks can be mitigated through the design and use of purpose-specific technologies and locally developed innovations.
Fuelling The System
Many multinational Big Tech Vendors offer comprehensive digital scaling solutions. While these services may appear efficient and cost-effective, outsourcing such functions has implications that go far beyond convenience.
For example, some companies may compromise client privacy through direct access to sensitive personal information, while others may engage in automatic processing, undermining competitive business advantage and preventing long-term scalability. Some companies may offer cybersecurity services – this amounts to placing software and hardware protection under the control of a third party, with no internal understanding/oversight of unauthorised access, security breaches or the extent of legal compliance with national standards.
Organizations gather data for AI development through a variety of structured, technical, and sometimes controversial methods. Concerns arise when companies collect more data than necessary, obscure their data practices in complex privacy policies, or retain information without consent.
Make tech experimentation to AI responsibility top of mind in your enterprise. There is a need to regulate and educate employees on the appropriate use of these tools and about how to authenticate material produced from these platforms.
